An original and exemplary eco-home

La Maison du Caillou, in the village of Boisseron in the department of the Herault welcomes you all year round. This is an environmentally bioclimatic house, which adapts to the climate and has been built with respect for its setting and surroundings.

Respect for the setting and the surroundings

La Maison de Caillou is built on the edge of a disused rock quarry in Boisseron. We have attempted to preserve and enhance the vegetation and the location. Impressive rock faces can be found near the house and one has even been incorporated into the building, creating a mineral surface in the house, the natural inspiration of the name “La Maison du Caillou”.

Managing the energy ressources

Our house is BBC Effinergie certified. With its wooden framework, it has been designed to make the best possible use of energy, built using natural materials and combing different techniques which limit and control water and energy consumption: a very efficient natural insulation using wood fibre and wool, underfloor heating or cooling connected to three vertical geothermic probes, twin-flow ventilation connected to a Canadian well, we collect rain water from all water-proofed surfaces and gutters, solar water heating, photovoltaic electricity production, home automation.

This project stems from when we met and wanted to settle somewhere half way between town and country, to create and share a home that reflects our way of life.

We soon stumbled upon the very place: a natural space, full of charm and evergreen oaks, overlooking Boisseron’s former quarry.
Our thanks go to Jean-Pierre Campredon (Architect - CANTERCEL) with whom we had many fruitful discussions and who understood and realised our wish to build and live in a new way, able to welcome guests with no restrictions.
The house is fully accessible to people with restricted mobility.
So today we are happy to welcome you to La Maison du Caillou.
